Walking distance to everything. negatives were that non-smoking rooms smelled like smoke. Elevators were too small but for the price and location would stay there again. Andra kommentarer om hotellet: The resort was close to the beach and also close to places to eat. There were many Europeans that didn t speak English. Breakfast there wasn t much variety in the 2 weeks that we stayed. The beds were like sleeping on a brick. Did ask for a soft top bed but they only put a blanket on the bottem. We stayed in a pool access room and it was very noisy. people swimming at midnight. Even though its not busy they will charge you for every hour past midday that you check out. our leaving time was 2pm. The free internet was poor and slow. we couldn t connect with our own computer even though they gave us the pass word. You had to use there computers to connect to the internet and it was slow. Andra kommentarer om hotellet: We booked this hotel based upon its reviews and recomendations through both sawasdee.com and tripadvisor.
It did not however meet up to expectations, I guess this is the hazard of reading glowing reviews, you get your hopes up.
On arrival the staff were professional, but largely unfriendly/unsmiling which was surprising when compared with our past stays in thailand, however the welcome drink was refreshing.
The room was a good size, with seperate bath and shower which is nice, supplied with in room safe, free daily water, coffee tea making facilities. The lovely pink feature wall was water stained roof to bed height from what appeared to be a leak from the room above at some time. The bathroom fixtures (shower and bath) at one time I believe would have been chromed, but over time and cleaning (I imagine) were tarnished flaking and rusted, resulting in an akward multi directional shower spray.
The pool is small but adequate, however placed within the centre of the hotel so is shaded for much of the day by the buildings, hard for tanning purposes ;) also while we were there the water had a greasy film visible flaoting on the water so we only used the actual pool once and promptly got out on seeing this. Luckily the hotel is centrally located within kata beach with a short 5 min walk to the beach, and a 3min walk to main road, 7/11 s, taxi/tuktuks, restaraunts, and most importantly banana pancake vendors.
Breakfast was fine - simmilar fare daily, selection of cereals, cooked meals, eggs on request etc... and only a very short walk not at all an inconvenience.
We only stayed the nights booked through sawasdee and then found another hotel that we were happier with at the same cost.
The things I have to complain about probably wouldnt have been such an issue had I not expected more, we have stayed in and enjoyed other hotels listed on sawasdee within kata beach - with lower ratings/feedback than the sugar palm so we were expecting something a cut above, sadly we ended up back at one of the other locations. Andra kommentarer om hotellet: Fantastic place to stay, in the hub of kata beach close to the beach and surrounded by many places to eat. Vry clean and comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Andra kommentarer om hotellet: A good place to stay if the room is poolside. If not, you may be over some street noise from shops along the drive up to the hotel. I had a bad light bulb that was not fixed while I was there, and I did mention it to staff. Nice bathrooms, good bed, good TV with limited stations. Staff were friendly. Good breakfast buffet. Coffee shop is good for people watching in the evenings.
Although their web site says there is a shuttle to the airport, it is not free, cost 900 baht.

Hur tycker du bokningshanteringen sköttes? Sawasdee was the best choice, we got what we asked for. The transportation service, which is an exception from other travel and booking websites, was excellent with aircon and smooth music.
Andra kommentarer om hotellet: The hotel was more than we expected from a 3 star hotel. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and kind. As for location it was very convenient, if you want to reach the beach in 2 minutes. You can hire a motorbike from the hotel and visit every spot of the island. If you are someone like me who doesn t want to think about what to eat and search for a place for breakfast, the breakfast served in the hotel can satisfy you. Andra kommentarer om hotellet: We had an opportunity to check the quality of two hotels from Kata network - Sugar Palm Resort & Spa and Sugar Palm Grand Hillside. If you want to have a more relaxed & secluded vacation, you want to choose Grand Hillside: nice view, a fresher air due to elevated location yet rather specific Spartan interior. Also, it s rather hard to go uphill for children and elderly. The only bad thing about Sugar Palm Resort & Spa is a poor sound isolation. If someone decides to splash in pool during daytime, you ll hardly get your after-dinner nap. The breakfast is better than that in Hillside - soups are very good, two types every morning and never repeat throughout the week. The reason for this is the the breakfast is being done in Mali restaurant. We would recommend you Mali for dinners for their quality & pricing.

Andra kommentarer om hotellet: Unfortunately, this hotel did not measure up with our expectations. Our room seemed to be nice at first glance however after a few minutes we became aware of houndreds of ants near by the balcony. We called the reception to tell them we had insects in our room. A few minutes later a very unfriendly staff member came in spraying anti-insect spray into our room. We went down to see the reception staff to tell them we can t occupy our room because of the smell of the spray. They told us not to enter the room for about 2 hours and then we should be fine. It was 8 o clock at night and we did not want to go anywhere so we told them that it was not our problem to have ants in our room and that we would like to have another one. They told us they were booked out. Well, we were starting to get quite angry so that suddenly there was a room available for us....end of story is that we got the other room but we had to change rooms again the next day. we just felt like being treated very rudely, which was a very new thai- experience...additionally the location is not very good, the only exception are some nice restaurants in the neighbourhood. Andra kommentarer om hotellet: Nice small hotel and great value for money with the current low season discounts (July). My travelling buddies and I all loved the pool access room , straight from the balcony into the pool. Comfortable bed. Location is great for Kata, only 3 minutes walk to the beach. Only a handful of tv channels, but a DVD player in the room. Beach was a bit rough at this time of year (good if you like a bit of surfing though). Ate some really ordinary food at the nearby restaurant (not Sugar Palms Mali but the other one across the laneway). Good massage just outside the reception area. Hur tycker du bokningshanteringen sköttes? The transfer from the airport to the resort that I booked through the PhuketPortalen.com website was a rip-off. Taxis at the airport were charging half what I paid.
Andra kommentarer om hotellet: Stayed in the poolside access room and really enjoyed it. The only gripe with the pool is that it wasn t large or deep but that is a minor issue. The staff were very friendly and always smiled, and they even booked my accommodation at the Sugar Palm Karon Beach Resort via phone for me (Kata Beach and the Sugar Palm Kata Resort is nicer than Karon beach and the resort there). Andra kommentarer om hotellet: Tidigare har jag bott på det närliggande hotellet Sugar Palm Grand Hillside. Jämför man dessa hotell är skillnaden enorm. På detta hotell är rummen långt i från lika fräscha och moderna. Man betalar mycket mer för boendet. Vid frukostbuffén flyger det in fåglar och knaprar åt sig föda, utan att personalen vidtar några som helst åtgärder. Vissa grejer var dock täckta med lock, men mot bakgrund av de återkommande fåglarna, borde alla maträtter vara täckta med lock så att fåglarna inte ens kom åt slevarna som man tog maten med.
Under vistelsen hade de gratis WiFi. Brukar kosta, men detta bjuder de kanske på under lågsäsongen?
Bastun och hissen var trasig. Hissen lagades påföljande dag. Ångbastun var inte på under de tider den skulle vara på. Kommer ej tillbaka till detta hotell mer. [PhuketPortalen.com integr.ERR:escaping]
